Update: Bainbridge’s Jonson loses 5 and 4 in Pacific Northwest Am finals

UPDATE: Bainbridge’s Carl Jonson, who trailed by seven holes after 14, wound up losing 5 and 4 to Shataro Ban in Saturday’s Pacific Northwest Amateur. Next for Jonson, a junior-to-be at UNLV, is the July 24-27 Pacific Coast Amateur at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon. Then he’ll attempt to qualify for the U.S. Amateur in Jupiter Hills, Ore., before going to the Aug. 7-10 Canadian Amateur in Cumberland, Ontario. The U.S. Amateur is Aug. 13-19 at Cherry  Hills CC in Cherry Hills, Colo. Jonson qualified in 2010 when it was played at Chambers Bay in Tacoma.

EARLIER POST: Bainbridge’s Carl Jonson is 5 down through 17 holes against Shataro Ban of San Jose, Calif.,  in Saturday’s championship match of the Pacific Northwest Amateur at Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla. It’s a 36-hole match, so Jonson’s got time. He was 7 down, but won 15 and 16.

UPDATE: Jonson’s comeback continues. He is 2 down after 21 holes. He’s now won five of the last seven holes after being 7 down through the first 14.
