Hear it here: Presidents of the USA’s Obama inauguration song

What better band to sing a song about President Barack Obama’s inauguration than Seattle’s very own Presidents of the United States of America?

The band wrote “Moving In” in honor of today’s historic events and debuted it on NPR over the weekend. You can download it for free here and you can listen to it below.

PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: “MOVING IN”

Chris Burlingame’s birthday w/H is for Hellgate @ Chop Suey tonight + other Inauguration Day events

In case you’ve been living under a rock or recently woke up from a four-month slumber, a new president of the United States is going to be sworn into office today.

With the swearing-in of this new commander-in-chief (It’s some guy named Obama. You might have heard of him.) comes plenty of celebrating in the Emerald City. There is a good list of local Inauguration Day festivities penned by Jonathan Zwickel over on the Seattle Times’ Web site that is well worth checking out.

While JZ’s list is definitely a solid place to go if you’re looking for something to do tonight, there is one show that is not on his list that I encourage you to attend. Here are the details:

For those unfamiliar with Chris Burlingame, he is a local music scribe and contributor to threeimaginarygirls.com Along with celebrating Barack Obama, the night will be a celebration of Chris’ 30th birthday and it should be a great show!

Note: The original version of this post incorrectly stated the company that owns The End. The information has been replaced with the correct company.

As mentioned Wednesday night, Endfest 17 will be happening Sept. 13 at Marymoor Park. Also mentioned earlier this week was the appearance of links to the campaigns of Gov. Chris Gregoire and Barack Obama on the festival’s Web site.

So what’s the deal with the sudden possible political slant on the annual summer music festival? Is The End (an Entercom station) officially endorsing candidates? Will money from ticket sales go to the campaigns of Obama and Gregoire?

I zipped an e-mail to Joe Hammill, the station’s promotions director inquiring about the connection to the upcoming election. Here is his response:
