Summer is such a wonderful time for music festivals. Rock The Bells draws the hip-hop heads. Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Sasquatch! and others draw the indie crowd. The punk rock summercamp known as Warped Tour attracts all the pasty-skinned Hot Topic people.
But what’s a long-haired, head-banging, denim-biker-vest-wearing, red-blodded metalhead to do now that Ozzfest is no longer an annual touring Mecca of all things hard and heavy?
Well, looks like Marilyn Manson and Slayer have the answer to that question. The scary duo bring their Mayhem Festival to White River Amphitheatre Tuesday, July 14 and as part of the festival they are bringing tons of their metalicious friends with them, including Killswitch Engage, Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine just to name a few
From the press release announcing the show (emphasis added, but not the caps, typing with the caps lock on is not how I roll):
“… the second annual Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival will feature a gaggle of rock’s heaviest bands: the main stage will see Marilyn Manson and Slayer joined by KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE; the Jägermeister stage will feature TRIVIUM, ALL THAT REMAINS, GOD FORBID and the Jägermeister Battle of the Bands winner; the Hot Topic stage will feature extreme metal bands CANNIBAL CORPSE, JOB FOR A COWBOY, BEHEMOTH, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and WHITECHAPEL. The World’s Greatest Freestyle Motocross team METAL MULISHA will also be revving up the crowd with their unique style of death-defying motorcycle stunts on all dates.”

Tickets for the Mayhem Festival go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. and cost $25, $29, $39.50, $49.50, $55 and $99. You can also purchase a four-pack of lawn seats for $79.
