Boys and Girls Club Holds “Trashion” Show

A tuxedo made of black garbage bags may not be on the runways in Milan, but it was the hit of a fashion show put on by the Port Orchard Boys & Girls Club Thursday afternoon. Seven-year-old Ryan Brooks, who spends his after-school time at the club’s site at Sidney Glen Elementary School in Port Orchard, fashioned the suit down a newspaper-lined runway against a cardboard backdrop.

The show was the culmination of weeks of preparation, during which about 20 elementary students, all participants of the Boys & Girls Club, let their imaginations run wild. The only caveat of the “Trashion Show” was that each outfit must be constructed entirely of recyclable material.
