The out basket: Jim McCready, supervisor for Kitsap County roads in South Kitsap says, “We are aware of some areas along Mullenix between Phillips and Olalla
Valley that show some settling. We plan to crack-seal those areas and continue to monitor the location.” The sealing may have been completed.
Sorry, Open Liners: Doug Bear of Kitsap County Public Works tells me the staff of their Open Line phone system was upset with my wording in the March 15 Road Warrior about the slim prospects for Newberry Hill Road every being extended west to Seabeck. I said chances of getting an enthusiastic response by calling the Open Line with the idea weren’t good.
The Open Line staff prides itself on being knowledgeable, quick, helpful and friendly and didn’t like the notion they’re not enthusiastic too.
I didn’t mean you, call answerers. I meant the people in the county who ultimately make the decisions about road building and find topography to be too great an obstacle to such an extension.
