Big rally puts Bainbridge softball back into state

The Bainbridge softball team qualified for state for the 10th straight year, beating Ballard 4-3 in nine innings Friday in the Class 3A SeaKing District tournament at the Southwest Athletic Complex in Seattle.

It took a big rally to make it. Bainbridge was down 3-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh. Maddie Loverich’s two-out, two-run triple tied the game.

Kari Perry’s two-out single scored the winning run in the ninth. Sara Colley went the distance, giving up just six hits.

Bainbridge (14-11) took the district’s fifth and final spot to state by beating a Ballard (18-8) team that finished second in the Metro League and swept them in the regular season.
