District girls basketball: West Sound teams

Here’s the schedule for West Sound girls basketball teams starting in district tournament play this week.

Class 4A West Central District

Who: South Kitsap (10-9) vs. Todd Beamer (18-2)

When: Thursday, 7 p.m. at Todd Beamer HS

Outlook: SK, which placed fifth in the Narrows 4A, returns to the district tournament with an eye on securing one of six berths to regionals. … Beamer won the SPSL title.

Class 3A West Central/Southwest District

Who: Central Kitsap (13-7) vs. Columbia River (11-9)

When: Thursday, 7 p.m. at Central Kitsap HS

Outlook: CK, the third-place team from the Narrows 3A, is hoping to garner one of six regionals berths. The Cougars have to do it without all-league senior Starr Rodenhurst, who suffered a knee injury two weeks ago and is done for the playoffs. … The Chieftains finished second in the four-team Greater St. Helens League.


Class 2A West Central District

Who: Port Angeles (18-3) vs. Steilacoom (8-11)

When: Thursday, 7 p.m. at Port Angeles HS

Outlook: PA earned the No. 1 seed from the Olympic League 2A with a win over Olympic on Saturday. It came with a price as Maddie Boe suffered a broken wrist and is done for the season. Emily Johnson is also out (knee injury) and the Riders will once again lean on Nizhoni Wheeler. … Steilacoom took fifth in the SPSL 2A. … There are six regionals berths available out of this tournament.

Who: Olympic (14-6) vs. Fife (10-10)

When: Wednesday, 7:45 p.m. at Olympic HS

Outlook: Olympic, the No. 2 seed from the OL 2A, might see limited minutes from standout Danielle Monzon. She hurt her shoulder on Saturday against PA. … Fife took fourth in the SPSL and is led by Christina Willis (13.3 ppg) and Carlie Kilcup (11.5).

Who: North Kitsap (12-7) vs. Lindbergh (11-9)

When: Thursday, 7 p.m. at Lindbergh HS

Outlook: NK, the No. 3 seed from the OL 2A, is on a seven-game winning streak. Freshman Raelee Moore is the team’s leading scorer (10.7 ppg). … Lindbergh took fourth in the Seamount League and has won five straight.

Who: Kingston (12-8) vs. Franklin Pierce (15-5)

When: Thursday, 7 p.m. at Franklin Pierce HS

Outlook: Kingston, which finished fourth in the OL 2A, is one of the few teams from the OL that is playing injury free. The Bucs have won four of their last six games. … Franklin Pierce placed tied for second in the SPSL is led by Alexius Foster (19 ppg).

Who: Bremerton (7-12) vs. White River (17-3)

When: Thursday, 7 p.m. at White River HS

Outlook: Bremerton, seeded fifth out of the OL 2A, faces the SPSL champion and the fifth-ranked Hornets. Kendall Bird leads White River in scoring with 19.6 ppg and holds the team record for rebounds in a game (19)

Class 1A West Central District

Who: Vashon Island (7-13) at Port Townsend (7-12)

When: Thursday, 7 p.m. at Port Townsend HS

Outlook: Redhawks took last spot from Oly 1A and faces two loser-out contests to get to league champs Coupeville.

Who: Seattle Christian (9-6) at Klahowya (5-14)

When: Friday, 7 p.m. at Klahowya

Outlook: Eagles hosting district playoff game for second consecutive year. This is loser-out game.
