B-Town Gets Air Time on Bob Rivers Show

Listening to my morning staple this morning, I heard two musicians with strong Bremerton ties — Nicole Pike (aka Nicole DeVille) and James Hunnicutt — on The Bob Rivers Show on KZOK (the classic rock station).

Pike was auditioning for a spot in the band Rivers and his morning-show sidekicks all play in, Spike (O’Neill ) and the Impalers. They’ve been doing auditions every morning for about a week for a chance to sing with the band when they play the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma May 29, and a job as a “Spike-Ette,” singing backup for the band.

With Hunnicutt playing acoustic guitar in support, Pike sang Ted Nugent’s “Stranglehold” (how’s that for kissing up to the classic rock guys?). Rivers more or less guaranteed on the air that she would advance to the semifinals.

Both Pike (with her band Wreckin’ Crew ) and Hunnicutt are slated to take part in the “Secrets of a Starlet ” pinup contest and rockabilly festival May 16 at the Silverdale Beach Hotel . (Watch kitsapsun.com/entertainment and the A&E section of The Flamethrower for more details.)
