A Breakout of Burglaries?

Five burglaries in the past week in the Lemolo Shore area of North Kitsap and the Central Kitsap area around Central Valley Road may not be just a coincidence.

Then again, they could be.

It is too early to tell, Kitsap County Sheriff’s spokesman Scott Wilson told me yesterday. But he said his office isn’t ruling out the possibility that those responsible are a group of thieves that could include an experienced burglar (perhaps one recently released from prison).

Here’s a summary of the five burglaries, according to sheriff’s office reports:

A home on the 16000 block of Delate Road was burglarized sometime before 4 p.m. Sept. 26. Thieves apparently entered the home by pushing out a mounted air conditioner in a bathroom window. Taken was about $5,000 worth of jewelry, CDs and cash.

A home and car on the 17000 block of Lemolo Shore Drive were burglarized sometime before 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26. The suspects got into the home through the front door, which was unlocked, and took items including a CD player, bicycle and camcorder. A car battery was also stolen out of a car on the property. The total amount taken and the amount of damage done was estimated at $1,500.

A home, shed and two cars on the 4000 block of Totten Road were burglarized sometime before 9 a.m. Sept. 28. Unknown suspects entered through a bathroom window of the home, broke into a shed and shattered two car windows. Taken was a lawnmower, “lots” of tools, a vehicle battery and a pickup truck. Thieves also attempted to take a safe — using the homeowners’ own dolly — but it doesn’t appear they were able to open it. The total value stolen and in damages was not known.

The pickup truck was recovered at about 11 p.m. Sept. 28 on the 10000 block of Shore Drive, however, and still had a 30-pack of beer believed stolen from the home’s refrigerator.

Here’s the suspected burglaries from yesterday:

Deputies were called to the 9300 block of Old Military Road just before 11 a.m. and found a broken window at a residence there. It doesn’t look like anything was taken there.

At about 11:30 a.m., another burglary was reported on the 14000 block of Central Valley Road. It’s possible a firearm was taken from that residence, Wilson said Monday.

Anyone with information about the suspected burglaries is asked to call 911.
