Experienced local attorney and small business owner announces candidacy for State Representative, Legislative District 26, Position 1.
GIG HARBOR – Stephen Greer (D), long-time Gig Harbor resident and Kitsap County attorney has announced that he will be running for State Representative, Legislative District 26, Position 1.
Greer, who believes that we need to “Make a change, to make a difference”, has lived in the Gig Harbor and Kitsap areas for over twenty years. Greer has been a small business owner since 1998; having previously served the residents of Kitsap County as a Deputy Prosecutor for nine years. Greer has prior experience in retail grocery management, insurance investigations, and private banking.
Greer currently represents children, the mentally ill, and victims of crime. His experience in public and private employment; management; small business; and as a mediator, arbitrator, and attorney are the skills needed for a cooperative functioning government in Washington State.
A proponent of cooperative open government, Greer believes that politics as usual is dysfunctional at best. Public servants need to listen to all the people they serve and be open to the best ideas presented.
In addition to his work experience, Greer has been a volunteer mentor at the Kitsap County Youth Service Center for over ten years and serves on the Human Services Advisory Committee at Olympic Community College.
A graduate of Seattle University with Bachelor of Criminal Justice in 1981, Greer earned his law degree from the University of Puget Sound in 1987. He obtained a Masters in Criminal Justice from Boston University in 2011.
Greer is married to Donna Greer; they have four children, and two grandchildren. He resides in the Gig Harbor area.
