Drew Hansen’s floor speech on Martin Luther King, Jr.

We had a story Monday on state Rep. Drew Hansen, D-Bainbridge Island, having written a book on the “I have a dream” speech and his assignment to introduce a House resolution honoring King. Here is the speech Hansen delivered, in which he states he makes the case that King’s losses offer moments as instructive as his victories.

  1. Appointed Rep Hansen was inside reading his prepared statement on MLK. Martin Luther King would not have been camping for the TVW cameras but outside with those opposing violence to the innocent and unborn. Did anyone see if Appointed Senator Rolfes, Rep Appleton or Hansen stood vigil for the innocent. I heard from reliable sources that gang of three was conveniently AWOL.

    Washington State March for Life
Today, the ACP joined the March for Life in Olympia, WA! Despite the inclement weather, there was still about 2,500 people in attendance standing up for babies’ rights. The ACP was there because pro-lifers — even dedicated ones who attend marches in the cold — need to be educated on and reminded of the full extent and brutal reality of abortion. We received several positive comments, including those from a man who had never seen what abortion looks like. He expressed his shock and thanked us for being there.

  2. Looks like our Representative for the 23rd District, Drew Hansen, rocked the house with his thoughtful speech. Well done. I’m doubtful that Jim O. will ever get the opportunity.
