Office to provide convenience, better accessibility to local residents

In an effort to ensure better accessibility to local citizens, Rep. Jan Angel opened a 26th District legislative office in Port Orchard this week.

The office is located at 1501 SE Piperberry Way, Suite 104, in Port Orchard, next to Blondie’s Restaurant. It is staffed by Angel’s legislative assistant, Debbie Austin.

“It is very important to have a central location where people know they can come to discuss legislative matters and other state government issues that affect their lives. I believe it is vital that government is accessible to the people it serves. By maintaining an office in Port Orchard, I can provide better and more convenient access to citizens in the 26th District,” said Angel, R-Port Orchard.

Angel said the office opened Monday, May 4, and already it has been busy with visitors.

“We’ve had so many people in the office already that we’ve had to scramble to find chairs. I’m delighted with the interest. It shows that people are engaged and willing to come to talk about the issues important to them,” added Angel. “This is the first time in recent memory that we have had a legislative district office in Port Orchard. For those citizens in the Gig Harbor area, I’m very willing to frequently meet with them in their community at one of the local coffee shops. This allows the flexibility to offer convenience to our constituents in the best way possible.”

The office will be open Monday through Friday each week when the Legislature is not in session. Angel said citizens are welcome to drop by, or if they would like to set up an appointment with her, the office phone number is: (360) 876-5986. Angel can also be contacted via e-mail through her Web site at:

  1. Oh wonderful. I’ll have to bring a welcome basket with Hannie. The Rollerderby league used to practice next door.

  2. Good for her and the area she serves….and a good reason for folks to go downtown.

How about the rest of our legislators? Do they have local offices?
    If so, where?

  3. Stopped by Rep. Angel’s office this afternoon. Spoke with Jan’s legislative assistant, Debbie Austin, about education issues.

It is right next to Blondie’s (next door to the right). They need a sign. Debbie said it is on order.
