Gregoire Named as High Court Possibility.

The New York Times included Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire in a collection of names of people who could replace David Souter on the U.S. Supreme Court.

She’s saying she’s not looking for that job.

If Gregoire is named it means Dino Rossi becomes governor, because he came in second place in the November election. Just kidding. I’m a month late for that joke.

No word yet if Vegas has come up with any odds on the pick.

  1. Queen Christine as SCOTUS. Look, it must be April 1.

These are silly poodle dog bones the Dems throw to our Democrat local yokels.

  2. Actually, I think Christine Gregoire was an excellent Attorney General for Washington State. Not so much as a governor, but I had a lot of respect for her as AG.

Gregoire would not be a bad choice for Obama to make. However, I don’t think she is high enough on the short list of women for the job. My bet would be on Bill Clinton, except I think Obama will choose a woman to replace Souter as a “make-up” for not choosing a female running mate (i.e. Hillary Clinton) and then will choose Bill or Hillary Clinton to replace Ginsburg (who will likely retire soon, as well).

  3. I love your joke, Steve. At one time our political system was set up where the first place ballot winner became president and the second place winner vice president.

  4. If it would displease Jake Metcalf, then I’m for it. Of course Empress Christine is totally unqualified, but that has never stopped her before.

  5. You would think we could find someone other than a confirmed liar for a seat on the highest court in the land.

  6. I agree with BlueLight. Additionally, “Clinton was suspended by the Supreme Court in October 2001, and, facing disbarment from that court, Clinton resigned from the Supreme Court bar in November.”, (“Clinton asks to quit Supreme Court Bar”. CNN.com. November 9, 2001. http://archives.cnn.com/2001/ALLPOLITICS/11/09/clinton.bar/). Along with having his license suspended in Arkansas for 5 years, wouldn’t this basicaly disqualify him from being appointed to the US Supreme Court? Oh wait, rules usually only apply to Republicans.

As for Gregoire, her appointment to the US Supreme Court would be a sure sign of the Apocalypse!!!
