Mayor Cary Bozeman confirmed today that he will seek re-election for his job as mayor of the city.
Bozeman said he sees the city’s annexation of the South Kitsap Industrial Area as an opportunity to further the city’s bid to become the urban center of the county. Bozeman was first elected in 2001 and ran unopposed in 2005. Mike Shepherd, city councilman, has announced he will also run for the city’s top job in November.
Running to replace Shepherd on the council is planning commission chairman Greg Wheeler.
A Navy vet and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard employee in the engineering department, Wheeler moved to the city with his family as a baby and has lived in the same house for the last 22 years.
Wheeler and his wife, Sunny, own a real-estate management and investment company. They’ve been involved with various local organizations and Wheeler has been one of the community leads in the Manette Sub Area planning process.
