The Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority is using MxPx’s song “Move to Bremerton” in a promotion for its condos, and on Saturday it got a lot of folks on a boat to come see the band at the Admiral.

I am sorry the ironic hipster section of my brain just suffered a massive ironic stroke. I know it makes sense but it is sort of like a cruise line company using Iggy Pop’s song “Lust for Life” about his struggles with fighting heroin addiction to sell vacations. I went to Seattle on Saturday and when I was leaving the ferry and walking to my car I saw a huge crowd of Seattle punks and hipsters headed to the ferry. Perhaps investments in the local music sceen would have the same positive economic developments that the Art Walks and NASCAR track have been boasting. Next they should use Sir Mix A lot’s song “Bremalo”
“Move to Bremerton” isn’t a knock on the city, though, unless there’s some code in the lyrics an old guy like me doesn’t get. “Bremalo” is a total rip, and Sir Mix A Lot still thinks Bremerton is garbage.
I know but I allways though that MXPX was being a little sarcastic in that song.
Sir Mix-a-lot is a hack. Plain and simple. The audio commentary that appears on the TNT re-affirms this belief. Based on the audio commentary, Sir Mix-a-lot has not visited Bremerton in probably 10 years. He has no idea what is taking place in the city. I wonder how it feels to be a washed-up Rap artist whose only claim to fame is a song that is parodied and played to emphasize irony??? Get lost!
Congratulations to MxPx for coming to play the Admiral in Bremerton. Maybe rock or punk shows might become a regular thing for our small downtown.
Rap? Did you say Rap?
I like rap. I can’t understand the words to any of it, but I love the beat…my kids say I wouldn’t like the words…but the beat goes on…
Sir mix alot was making reference to the hookers that visited navy base personel back in the day and as for a one hit washed up wonder his more than one hit, investments in new artists recordings and his current (surely better yearly income than yours) would give him good reason to sit back and enjoy life now.
Thanks for the information, Jim
Folks who throw rocks at other people for accomplishment usually have far too much time doing nothing during their lifetime.

woah woah.. calm down with all that trash talking of mix.. mix is in bremerton ALL the time.. so watch your mouth and what you say you cynical clowns. his aunt still lives in silverdale right off clear creek. he hangs out with my brother and records with another friend of mine. so i’d say he know just what is going on here as much as i do and as for mxpx. i went to school with those pot heads and move to bremerton is a horrible song lol
