Westsound Bank had been
planning for some time to move its downtown headquarters four
blocks.
The building that was once home to US Bank and considered for Bremerton police headquarters will now be the main office for the young bank that’s growing quickly. Dave Johnson, seen on the right, revealed his plans Wednesday.
Johnson took me inside the building. A lot of employees are there
already and benefiting from having a lot more space. That would
seem to be the biggest difference between the new building and the
current downtown headquarters.
I asked Johnson if he wasn’t moving away from pedestrian traffic, but he said the new site might be better, that there are probably more people living within walking distance of the new site than the old one.
Plus, the new digs make it much easier for drivers.
What happens with the existing building the company hasn’t decided, but can anyone imagine it sitting vacant for long? If downtown continues to improve, that site is bound to be a much-desired location for someone.
