Crime log stats from April 20 to April 26: 6 traffic accidents, 4 identity thefts, 4 thefts, 4 burglaries, 3 suspicious persons/situations incidents, 3 malicious mischief incidents, 1 recovery of stolen property, 1 warrant arrest by outside agency, 1 vehicle prowling, 1 harassment, 1 assault, 1 verbal dispute, 1 abandoned vehicle, 1 miscellaneous.
April 29
Suspicious incident/investigation: A woman living on the 15000 block of Agatewood Road reported that when she arrived home at 4 p.m. her dog didn’t greet her normally in the garage and instead went behind the garage. When the woman fed her dog, she found that he wasn’t hungry and that his breath smelled like steak. The woman then received a phone call from her neighbor, who informed her of seeing a white man either in his teens or 20s with short brown or black hair behind the woman’s garage. The neighbor assumed incorrectly the man was the woman’s son. Police checked the area at the request of the woman.
April 28
Patrol check: A man living on the 2000 block of Toe Jam Hill Road requested some speed control checks in the Tom Jam Hill area. He suggested running radar from 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.
April 27
Driving under the influence/alcohol and traffic accident: A 49-year-old Kingston woman hit the center of the roundabout on Madison Avenue at 12:30 a.m., causing a median sign to break off. The underside of the woman’s vehicle had ignited some of the median’s bushes on fire. When the officer arrived, the woman appeared intoxicated and unstable on her feet. Her face was flushed and her eyes were bloodshot. The woman said when she approached the roundabout, her brakes made a funny sound and she was unable to stop. The officer saw no evidence of braking. The woman provided two valid breath samples that measured .160 and .158. She was cited for DUI and booked on a $2,500 bail.
Theft in the third degree: A woman living on the 6000 block of Blakely Avenue reported the theft of two bales of hay. A bale, which weighs 65-75 pounds, are worth $22 each. The woman said it was the third time she had hay missing.
April 26
Abandoned and/or vehicle impounded: At 11:35 p.m., a woman reported a vehicle left and abandoned in the roadway at Koura Road, just west of Miller Road. The driver reported that she had nearly collided with the vehicle as it was taking up most of the right side of the road. Police dispatchers were unable to locate a phone number for the registered owners of the car, which didn’t have a note left with it. The car was towed and impounded with no law enforcement hold.
Suspicious persons/situations: A woman living on the 15000 block of Agatewood Road reported three to four teenagers in her backyard with flashlights at 9:30 p.m. When officers arrived, the woman told them one of teens was wearing a gray hoodie. Officers were unable to locate the youth, who were first spotted in the wooded area of her backyard.
April 25
Identity theft: A man living in the 9000 block of Pine Street reported that someone had tried to steal $5,300 through a transfer to a different account. The money transfer wasn’t completed. The man said he didn’t have any burglaries or vehicle prowls at his residence.
April 24
Suspicious persons/situations: A woman living on the 9000 block of Green Spot Place reported seeing a dark green 1999 Pontiac Pro four-door car leaving her neighbor’s driveway around 1 p.m. on April 14 with three people in the car. When the woman arrived at 6:30 p.m. April 24, she saw the same car with three people in it again leaving her neighbor’s driveway. This time the woman wrote down the vehicle’s license plate number, which indicated the car’s owner was from Port Angeles. When the woman told her neighbor about the sighting, the neighbor said she was home at the time and that no one had come to the door.
