Not much happened this week. There were a few drunk drivers and some thefts from unlocked cars – which, according to one victim, simply “doesn’t happen here.”
Blotter’s below.
Dec. 12
Drunk driving: A Silverdale male was arrested for drunk driving
just before 4 a.m. on Highway 305 near Day Road. Police initially
noticed the suspect’s vehicle traveling at about 25 mph in a 50 mph
zone. The vehicle also continually swerved in its lane. Once pulled
over, the suspect stared straight ahead while gripping his steering
wheel. He acted surprised when an officer tapped on his window.
Once the window was down, the officer could smell alcohol emanating
from the suspect. He said he had been visiting bars in Seattle
before boarding the ferry to Bainbridge. After failing a field
sobriety test, the suspect was taken to the county jail in Port
Orchard.
Drunk driving: A Poulsbo female was arrested for drunk driving just before 1 a.m. on Blakely Avenue. The suspect was driving in an erratic manner and about 20 mph under the 40 mph limit. She admitted to drinking two glasses of wine at a Winslow bar. She failed a series of field sobriety tests and was taken to the county jail in Port Orchard.
Dec. 9
Drunk driving: A Bainbridge male was arrested for drunk driving
after he crashed into a ditch on Country Club Road at about 2:20
a.m. An off-duty Seattle police officer reported the incident at
4:20 a.m. and contacted the suspect to assist him. The suspect told
Bainbridge police he had been trying to get the car out of the
ditch for about two hours. The suspect had the odor of alcohol but
declined to say whether he’d been drinking. A breath test confirmed
a high level of alcohol. He was taken to the county jail in Port
Orchard.
Dec. 8
Theft: A purse was reported stolen from an unlocked truck parked
outside the Safeway store on High School Road. When asked why she
hadn’t locked her doors, the victim responded “This is Bainbridge
Island, this stuff doesn’t happen here.”
Dec. 4
Theft: An iPod and two flashlight were stolen from two vehicles
parked on Cosgrove Street sometime during the night.
While my wife was loading groceries into the trunk, some punk stole a bag of groceries (sugar, cat food and a couple of other items) out of her (Safeway)grocery cart. Car doors were locked (ever since the little girl junkie, since apprehended, Yay BIPD!), looted our cars in our driveway just before she broke into our house.
Our Bainbridge (Olympus Beach area) home was burgled the week after Thanksgiving. They were very stealth about it… stole small Canon camera and white Kindle, Laguoile knives, and a plastic under-bed box containing very sentimental family jewelry and other stuff. They also emptied my daughter’s piggy banks. Reward for the return of the box with ALL of its contents intact and the SD card from the camera.
