UPDATE: Nathan’s time was 21.54, the first time he’s gone sub-22
seconds and as the winner, he got the interview on camera following
the race. He was all smiles. Bremerton, add another world team
member to your resume!
UPDATE: (4:05): They are in the water and it’s a dead heat with
NATHAN ADRIAN COMING IN AT TOUCHING THE WALL AND GETTING THE
WIN!!!
UPDATE: Looks like Nathan is wearing the new Jaked01 full suit,
as a lot of swimmers are. He’s in Lane 2.
UPDATE: Here we go! The finals of the 50 with introductions is
up next.
UPDATE: The consolation finals of the men’s 50 free is getting
underway. I wonder what Nathan is thinking in the back room right
now?
UPDATE: Proving once again she still has what it takes to
perform, Dara Torres won the 50 free and secured a spot to the
world championships in Rome in two weeks.
UPDATE: We’re getting closer to Nathan’s race. The women’s 50
free is coming up next…stay tuned.
UPDATE: Was there any doubt? Phelps set the world record in the
100 fly, pulling away from the field to finish in 50.22. That’s two
for Phelps so far this week. Piersol was third.
UPDATE: Don’t forget. NBC will show the nationals on Saturday
and Sunday, but it’s tape delayed, and edited. But, if you weren’t
able to watch the races so far, check your TV schedule this
weekend. We’re almost underway in the finals of the 100 fly with
Aaron Peirsol and Michael Phelps going head-to-head. A new world
record could be moments away.
UPDATE (3:19): I have to say, watching the 100 breast was tough
without Tara Kirk in the mix. Coming up next is the men’s 100
butterfly.
UPDATE (3:10) The first final of the night is over and its the
2008 Olympic gold medalist Rebecca Soni coming away with the win in
the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.34, a new American record.
So here we go with Thursday’s finals from Indianapolis.
The schedule of events have been posted and Nathan Adrian is
swimming in the 50 free at 3:55 p.m., so we have less than an hour
before the Bremertonian swims.
I will update periodically on swims until then. Right now, it’s
the women’s 100 breaststroke consolation finals (two heats) then
the main finals.
