Marvin gets a little help from his friends

Last time Marvin Williams played the Knicks, he was ejected after getting into it with New York’s Shawne Williams in a Jan. 28 game in Atlanta. According to this report in the New York Daily News, Williams called on a couple of friends to  help him out after getting heckled at Madison Square Garden in the return engagement earlier this week. Wonder if they were pals from Bremerton?

Atlanta columnist argues that Marvin should go to the bench

Mark Bradley of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is of the belief that the Atlanta Hawks would be better of if Bremerton’s Marvin Williams was moved to the bench.

“And it’s not that Marvin isn’t capable of making an imprint on games; it’s just that, for 5 1/2 puzzling seasons, he has been content to do the minimum,” writes Bradley.

Marvin: No hard feelings after fracas in New York

Bremerton’s Marvin Williams made his first comments since being ejected after getting into a scrap with New York’s Shawne Williams last Friday. Williams missed Atlanta’s game on Saturday and must also sit out Wednesday’s game.

Marvin’s coach Larry Drew told the Atlanta Constitution-Journal that the the incident might be good for the team, which is viewed as soft by some around the league. Read the full story here.

Marvin could be back for Wednesday game for Atlanta

Forward Marvin Williams of the Atlanta Hawks, who has been out since Dec.29 with a back injury, started working out last week, Michael Cunningham wrote in a story by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Cunningham wrote that Williams has been cleared for contact.

“I feel good,” Williams said. “I haven’t had any pain probably in a week now. I am starting to get my strength back. My conditioning is coming back. I am excited.”
