Open Cup: Pumas/Sounders would be at Starfire

We knew the Kitsap Pumas had a chance to play the Seattle Sounders in the Open Cup if they can beat Real Colorado this Tuesday. Now that’s official.

The major question is where would the game be played? That’s official now too. You can look at the potential third-round matchups here. The game would be played at Starfire Sports Complex on June 29 at 7 p.m.

U.S. Open Cup: Pumas win shootout in El Paso

The Kitsap Pumas have advanced to the second round of the U.S. Open Cup for the second straight season.

They overcame a long day of travel and oppressive heat to beat the El Paso Patriots — another USL Premier Development League team — in a shootout on Tuesday night. The score was tied 0-0 after regulation and after a pair of 15-minute overtime periods. It came down to a shootout and that was also exhausting as it went nine rounds before the Pumas were able to come away with a thrilling 6-5 advantage on goals made.

What’s it mean?

Well, the Pumas will host the Real Colorado Foxes on Tuesday, June 21 at Bremerton’s Memorial Stadium. If the Pumas win that one, it’s highly possible the Pumas could host the Seattle Sounders in a third-round game as the lower seed has the option of bidding to host the game.

How cool would that be?
