Adrian helps No. 1 Cal to win over USC

February 5th, 2011 by Annette Griffus

California senior Nathan Adrian won the 50 and 100-yard freestyles as the No. 1-ranked Golden Bears beat No. 8 USC, 160-133 on Friday in a Pac-10 swimming meet.

Adrian, a Bremerton native, won the 50 free in 19.25 seconds and the 100 free in 42.57.

Also, Adrian was named the Swimming World Performer of the Week last week after his leg in the 400-free relay in Cal’s win over Arizona. Adrian swam a 42.61, the fastest unshaven, untapered collegiate time this year.

Next up for the Bears will be Cal State Bakersfield, Saturday at 11 a.m.
