UPDATE: Adrian Fastest Qualifier in 100 Free

July 10th, 2009 by Annette Griffus

UPDATE: The 100 free is scheduled as the first race of the night, so Nathan will be swimming at 3 p.m. (local).

Adrenaline is an amazing thing.

Still feeding off his remarkable win in the 50 freestyle Thursday night, Nathan Adrian claimed the top seed in the 100 free during Friday’s morning prelims.

The Bremerton native was the fastest qualifier with a time of 48.10 at the U.S. nationals in Indianapolis. David Walters was the second fastest qualifier in 48.46, followed by Garrett Weber-Gale in 48.52. Adrian’s time was only .10 seconds off going a sub-48 second for the first time in his career.

I will update this post with the schedule of events for tonight’s finals when they are available. And if you missed watching Nathan’s 50 free race, it’s now posted on swimnetwork.com, or you can watch it here.

UPDATE: Michael Phelps was supposed to swim in the 100 free, but he dropped out because of a sore neck. You can read about it here. Also, here’s what Weber-Gale said on his Tweet post from this morning:

“Decent morning. Got some things to make better for tonight. About to get a message.”
