Links on SK Grads Jason Hammel and Willie Bloomquist
June 27th, 2009 by cstarkJason Hammel pitched a career-high 7 1/3 innings to get his fifth straight win for the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.
Here’s some video on the graduate of South Kitsap, courtesty MLB.com.
And here’s a couple stories about his latest victory — one from the Denver Post and one from MLB.com.
South Kitsap’s other major leaguer, Willie Bloomquist of the Royals, tripled, singled and scored both runs for Kansas City in a loss against Pittsburgh on Saturday. Bloomquist’s hitting .276 with a team-high 13 stolen bases. Here’s a story on the game. And here’s a link to a Kansas City Star blog about Willie. It’s a little old, but it’s still interesting. If you read the comments, you’ll notice he’s converted a lot of fans.

Great fun! We’ve been fans of Jason since his junior high days. Thanks so much for the video…especially enjoyed his catching his own pitches!
