<description>Chris: Thanks for this posting and the rest of the valuable Hood Canal environmental things you blog. With the new marina being built at Seabeck, a major development across the canal at Pleasant Harbor would even further impact the entire area. The General Store and Marina at Seabeck is one thing. A huge new resort community built by a Canadian developer is something else. There is no arguement that Hood Canal is delicate and faces environmental issues that need to be sorted out....stormwater run off and old septic systems among them. You would not believe the permitting process we went through to put a new bulkhead on our property south of Hood Point after the big February storm in 2006. It took months to get Kitsap County to approve that. I bet that this big money construction project will get approved by Jefferson County and the permitting process won&#039;t be much longer than for our little bulkhead. It just seems to me that Hood Canal does not need any major development...build it and they will come...and then more development will happen. I&#039;m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but it one dones not need to be a rocket scientist to realize that a development like Statesman is proposing for Pleasant Harbor cannot possibly be viewed as a positive for Hood Canal. In the end, however, big money talks and I bet you are right that Jefferson Country approves this project.

Thanks again for this great blog. We are excited because I got a job transfer back to Seattle so shortly we will be departing Michigan and return to our Pacific Northwest roots. Hood Canal is where I want to spend most of my non-working time.

Best regards and Happy New Year!
