Another day of shrimping added on Whidbey Island’s east side

May 15th, 2014 by tristan baurick

The state Dept. of Fish & Wildlife added one more day to the shrimping season in Marine Areas 8-1 and 8-2, which includes parts of Puget Sound east of Whidbey Island.

The added day is Wednesday, May 21, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fish & Wildlife determined that shrimp populations in that area could handle another day of harvests.

Hood Canal (Marine Area 12) was already set for shrimping on Wednesday.

Wednesday is last day of the 2014 shrimping season.
