Want to Learn to Kayak?

February 26th, 2014 by tristan baurick

The Kitsap branch of the Mountaineers is offering an introduction to kayaking class in April and May.

“Our class is aimed at folks who either want to learn how to sea kayak and those who want to improve their sea kayaking skills,” said Vern Brown of the Kitsap Mountaineers. “The (main) goal of the class is to help people learn how to kayak safely.”

The class is on April 5 and 6 and May 3 and 4. It includes time in the classroom, swimming pool and two saltwater paddles.

The fee is $180, plus the cost of renting a kayak and gear. Mountaineer membership is also required.

A full description of the course can be found on (Once at the site, click on “Get Outside & Explore”, and then on “Sea Kayaking”.

Class locations have not been set.
