A few weeks ago, I wrote a story about trail maintenance work resuming at Banner Forest Heritage Park after a three-year ban.
I expected to see the trails clogged by brush and fallen trees. Instead, the trails were passable, if a big shaggy on the edges.
The volunteer trail workers – most of whom were mountain bikers who frequent Banner – were coy about who kept the trails clear.
“A gnome,” said one of the volunteers.
“God bless those invisible trail gnomes,” another said.
Above is documented proof of the not-so-invisible trail gnomes, courtesy of the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance.
