Bremerton’s Nathan Adrian wins easily at Santa Clara Grand Prix

Bremerton gold medalist Nathan Adrian continued his dominance in the 100-meter freestyle Friday at the Arena Grand Prix in Santa Clara, Calif.

Adrian set a meed record in 48.08 seconds, the fourth fastest time in the world this year. Ryan Lochte placed second in 49.53 and Conor Dwyer was third in 49.59.

Adrian has not lost a long-course 100 freestyle since he finished sixth in at the 2011 world championships in Shanghei, China.

Adrian’s personal best is 47.52, set at the 2012 London Olympics when he won gold.

He will swim Saturday in the 50 free. Preliminaries are at 9 a.m. with finals at 5 p.m. The meet will be livestreamed at, with the finals live on Universal Sports Network.

The meet is the final tune-up for the upcoming national championships, which also serves as USA Swimming’s world championship trials.
