That’s all that stood between Tara Kirk and a trip to Beijing.

Kirk, a Bremerton native, finished behind Megan Jendrick of Tacoma in 1:07.51 to 1:07.50. Kirk kept Jendrick, the 2000 Olympic gold medalist off the Athens team in 2004, from qualifying in the 100 breast. Kirk will get a second chance to qualify in the 200 breast later this week.
