Here’s a link to Web sites regarding swimming from around the world. China, which apparently didn’t have many hopes in swimming for a medal, banned a swimmer for testing positive for an illegal substance.

If you’re a big Michael Phelps fan, here’s a look at his swim schedule for the trials.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A look at Michael Phelps’ schedule for the U.S. Olympic swimming trials that run June 29-July 6 in a temporary pool inside the Qwest Center. Phelps is entered in nine events, but may not swim that many:

June 29

400-meter individual medley — Morning prelims and evening final. Phelps set the world record at last year’s world championships in Australia. His top challenger is Ryan Lochte, whose qualifying time is 3.52 seconds slower.

400 freestyle — Phelps’ qualifying time is fifth-fastest behind American record-holder Peter Vanderkaay. Appears to be most likely event he will drop.

June 30

200 free — Morning prelims and evening semifinals. Phelps is the world record-holder, and his qualifying time is 1.59 seconds faster than second-ranked Peter Vanderkaay.

100 backstroke — Morning prelims and evening semifinals. Phelps is second-fastest behind world record-holder Aaron Peirsol.

July 1

200 butterfly — Morning prelims and evening semifinals. Phelps is the world record-holder.

July 2

100 free — Morning prelims and evening semifinals. Phelps owns the fastest qualifying time in a loaded event.

200 fly — Final.

July 3

200 backstroke — Morning prelims and evening semifinals. Phelps’ qualifying time trails both Aaron Peirsol and world record-holder Ryan Lochte.

100 free — Final.

200 individual medley — Morning prelims and evening semifinals. Phelps is the world recordholder, with a qualifying time that’s 1.13 seconds faster than Ryan Lochte.

July 4

200 back — Final. Will be a must-see event if Phelps continues through to the final. He qualified second at the 2004 trials, but dropped the event at the Olympics and didn’t swim it at last year’s world championships.

200 IM — Final.

100 butterfly — Morning prelims and evening semifinals. World record-holder Ian Crocker resumes his rivalry with Phelps.

July 5

100 fly — Final. Phelps’ last day of competition.
