Villwock Collects Hydro Win No. 57
July 6th, 2009 by cstarkPort Orchard native Dave Villwock had a perfect weekend while driving the Miss Elam to victory in the Madison Regatta on Sunday. It was his 57th career unlimited hydroplane victory.
Only the late Bill Muncey (62) and retired Chip Hanauer (61) have more wins than the 1972 South Kitsap graduate who now lives in Auburn. If Villwock and the Elam sweep the final five races, he’ll end the season tied with Muncey.
Here’s reports on the Madison race from the Louisville Courier-Journal and the Evansville Courier & Press.
The unlimited fleet now heads to Detroit for the Gold Cup. Qualifying starts Friday. The rest of the scheduled includes Tri-Cities (July 24-26), Seattle (July 31-Aug. 2), Kelowna, B.C. (Aug. 8-9) and Evansville, Ind. (Aug. 21-23).
Do you think Villwock can run the table?
