Minus the Bear is
gearing up to release its new album, Omni, on May 4. “My Time,” the
lead single from the album, was released as a free download
yesterday. You can listen to the track, which features heavy use of
a Japanese Omnichord synthesizer, below and get your free download
of the song by
clicking here. Minus the Bear’s local tour stop
supporting the album will be at this year’s Sasquatch! Music
Festival, however, you can see the band prior to Memorial Day
Weekend during an in-store performance at Sonic Boom Records on
Record Store
Day (April17). I’ll post more details (such as which
Sonic Boom and the set time) as they are made available.
Brad, the Stone
Gossard side project featuring the highly underrated Shawn Smith on
vocals, is also releasing a new album this year. The record is
titled “Best Friends?” and if you sign up for the Brad
mailing listyou can get a download of “Runnin’ For
Cover” off the album. I’m sure you’ll be hearing the song when Brad
plays Showbox at the Market on April 17. Of course, you remember
the last
time Brad played at Showbox at the Market, don’t
you?
Drive-By Truckers recently became a
small musical obsession of mine. I listened to “Southern Rock
Opera” for the first time last summer and ever since I have been
fascinated by Patterson Hood and the rest of the DBTs. The band is
releasing its new album “The Big To-Do” on March 16 and you can
click below to download the song “Birthday Boy” from the band’s new
album. You can also stream the entire
record over here.
