Sasquatch! 2009 lineup leaks?
January 28th, 2009 by travis hayI’ve written about the rumors for this year’s Sasquatch! a little bit over at Ear Candy, but really not a lot is know yet about who will be headlining and performing at the Gorge during Memorial Day weekend this year for ‘Quatch. It’s almost time for me to post my annual stab at guessing the Sasquatch! Music Festival lineup (I will post it Feb. 10, which is exactly one week before the official announcement is made), but until then allow me to share what I know about this year’s event:
It will once again be a three-day event. Either the Saturday through Monday or Friday through Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.
According to various Web sites Peter Bjorn and John as well as the Avett Brothers will be at Sasquatch! this year. Click here to see PBJ’s tour schedule, which shows they will be at Sasquatch!
Kings of Leon, as well as Animal Collective appear to be a part of the lineup too.
Other solid guesses include: Death Cab For Cutie, Adele, Franz Ferdinand, Neko Case, AC Newman, Blitzen Trapper, Fleet Foxes, The Hold Steady, The Decemberists, Devotchka, Monotonix, Wilco, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ra Ra Riot and The Thermals
Keep in mind none of those bands have been announced as Sasquatch! performers (except PB&J) and all of those listed were either listed as a guess or are connected to a solid rumor about the festival. The acts I included as solid guesses are bands that have new records coming out this year, are buzzed about and are likely to make their rounds on the summer festival circuit. The only bands I see as being potential headliners on my list are Wilco and perhaps Death Cab For Cutie.
Who do you want to see at Sasquatch! 2009?

I guess David Bowie as Ziggy is out of the question.

I feel very fortunate to be a fan of Death Cab, since one cannot possibly escape them on the festival circuit.

No Wilco unfortunately… they’ll be in Spain.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That must be the Sasquatch! mission statement. On any given year, you can count on Modest Mouse, Built To Spill, and Ben Gibbard’s saddoes. While two out of three of those bands I love, let’s have some variety. Somebody who ROCKS. (I’m looking at you BORIS.) Neko Case, the Decemberists…lord, when does it end?
But I can live with the King Followill brothers making an appearance. Like they once sang “ledd de gwodd dimes wooooll!” as no doubt their fans will find themselves in the Hold Steady’s “Chill Out Tent” after the prerequisite campground shenanigans.

I mos def think TV On the Radio will be there, they’re hitting both Bonnaroo and Coachella. I’d be willing to put money down on MGMT, Bon Iver, Band of Horses, and the Ting Tings too. I’d love to see the Junior Boys since they’re getting ready to have a new release and upcoming tour. I’m also keeping my fingers crossed for another Beirut and National show since we were a little hosed last year on the latter (although I’m stoked with my choice of skipping out on Modest Mouse to see them)… I’m also thinking Thievery Corporation, Calexico, and M Ward among others. Looks to be a good year for sure!

I have a very good connection that is certain these following artists are being entertained.
“Just In”
Cold play will headline one night (not to high on that but its true)
The killers may show as a headline if they get bumped down the line from their current headline spot at Coachella (very likely).
Wolf Parade
Animal collective
KOL
She and Him ( Ben will be there )
Mogwai
Snow patrol or the Fray (they won’t both show)
Keane
M83
Johnny Flynn
Jsainzal….

Are you kidding me? Coldplay is WAY too big for sasquatch. The Killers maybe. But coldplay’ll probably be in australia or some damn thing like that. I’d also rather have Snow Patrol instead of the fray, but again, those bands are way too big. whoever’s giving you this information is just setting you up for disappointment.
