Bumbershoot 2008 Day 1: Mono In VCF

September 1st, 2008 by travis hay

The Sky Church hosted some great local bands during the first day of Bumbershoot and possibly the most impressive of those was Mono In VCF.

If you’re not familiar with Mono In VCF they are a dark, psychedelic indie rock band that features an amazing singer. Vocalist Kim Miller has to be the most underrated female vocalist in Seattle. The sound of her voice soaring through the Sky Church combined with the psychedelic imagery on the video screen and the giant jellyfish discoballs hanging from the ceiling made for a superb set in the perfect setting.

Near the end of the set Ellensburg native Mark Pickerel joined the band for a Lee Hazelwood cover. The duet between Pickerel and Miller was simply beautiful.
