Good Article. I think with summer on it's way, with low tides and many folks going out to discover and utilize our local resources (best in the world!) it would be helpful if these kind of articles get more exposure in front page publication so as to inform the public and ensure these resources will not be trampled on in the future!

I would love to radio track the raccoons! There are so many around, but I'm not even sure anyone knows how many there are, which ones range where, how many babies survive from each litter and what actually kills them (do they fall out of trees?), when they are active, or whether their behavior is modified by being around people. I've always heard raccoons are nocturnal, but mine start coming out in the daytime around the middle of June and will do this until about September or so. It might also shed some light on why some raccoons are aggressive towards family pets. For instance, maybe aggression is taught by older raccoons to the younger ones or maybe it's area specific. It would be interesting to find out.

No aware of a project for it, but might be something that could go into NatureMapping. I like the idea. I'd even be up for trapping and radio tagging, so I could know when it's safe to let the chickens out!
