The in basket: Christine Purbaugh writes, “I live on North
Cambrian and I was wondering why Wycoff (in Bremerton) between 13th
and 15th streets was torn up recently (mid-June, I think) and then
some patch work done and then about two weeks later Wycoff on the
other side of 15th Street between 15th and 17th was paved, when it
was Wycoff between 13th and 15th that needed the paving.
“Maybe the boss was off that week and the workers weren’t sure
where to pave so they did the wrong side?” she speculated.

Other ways to Sea-Tac from the north
I was fairly sure the recent column on ways to get to Sea-Tac
Airport from the north was going to miss an option or two and I was
right.
I realized as I read it in the paper that I’d omitted perhaps the
most likely choice – taking your car across on the ferry and
driving south.
Two readers e-mailed other ideas.
Where are new bridge’s expansion joints?
The in basket: Vern Braaten of Seabeck writes, “With the recent
collapse of the Minneapolis Minnesota’s bridge, it makes me wonder
about our own Narrows bridge.
“Since I travel across it every day, I’m wondering where the
expansion sections are located? The old bridge has them all the way
across, between each lane. The only ones I see on the new
bridge is the strip at each end. Whatz up ?”
Getting to Sea-Tac during the I-5 work in Seattle
The in basket: Linda Verbon, visiting her Bremerton family from Las Vegas, worries that if the grimmest predictions about backups on I-5 from the freeway work in downtown Seattle the next 2 1/2 weeks come true, that she might have trouble getting to Sea-Tac Airport next week. She asks how a person can make sure to make their flight during the road work.
Changes on Bremerton’s Sixth Street
The in basket: The city of Bremerton has changed one of the
traffic alignments that has generated regular complaints and
questions to the Road Warrior over the years – the limitation of
the center eastbound lanes on Sixth Street at Warren Avenue to left
turns only.
In the past few weeks, it was made legal to go either straight or
turn left from that lane, providing two lanes proceeding into
downtown. It was done to accommodate the increased traffic on Sixth
after two blocks of Burwell Street were closed to allow for the
downtown tunnel project.
I asked if the change is temporary, to be changed back when the
tunnel is finished.
