Lane confusion in Silverdale

The in basket: Jenny Burke says the two northbound lanes of Silverdale Way at Bucklin Hill Road don’t line up with those across the intersection. At least three times while she was in the inside lane on dark rainy nights, she said, she has found drivers from the outside lane trying to occupy her lane while crossing.
She asked if any kind of signage or paint would help avoid this.

The out basket: It’s pretty clear for those in the inside lane where they should go, thanks to a triangular painted island that directs them to angle right. The outside lane doesn’t have such a visual cue.
Jeff Shea of Kitsap County’s road engineering staff, says the county will take a look at that.
“There is through-intersection channelization for this movement (short white lines connecting the white lane lines),” he said. “The lines are very short, worn, and may be hard to see. It’s on our marking list for maintenance in the future.”
