The in basket: Bill Doner writes to say, “Every weekday morning
at 6:08 a.m. the center turn lane is used by multiple
drivers to pass the Kitsap Transit worker-driver bus that picks me
up on Holly Road at Wildcat Lake County Park. Is this legal?”

Life vests seem to be locked up
The in basket: A Port Ludlow resident who didn’t want his or her
name used sent in a photo taken on one of the state ferries serving
Kingston, saying the same message can be seen on a locked door on a
ferry serving Port Townsend as well.
It showed two signs on a padlocked door, one reading “LIFE
PRESERVERS 50 adult, 5 children” and the other “Restricted Area,
Authorized Personnel Only.”
“I can just imagine,” the reader wrote, “the captain saying ‘We’re
sinking fast, Somebody run downstairs and unlock the preserver
locker.'”
Tall roadside grass a fire hazard
The in basket: Four readers have written in about tall grass along the roads and highways, suggesting it is a fire hazard. I’d better get this addressed before more rain makes it a moot point.
