The in basket: Lori Denton asks, “Why did they change the way the light and 11th and Park (in Bremerton) works? It used to be a ‘pressure’ light if you were coming up (or down) Park Avenue at the light on 11th. Now, if you are waiting to either turn or cross at 11th you have to wait three times as long when there is no traffic coming either direction on 11th. Too long in my opinion.

I work at 920 Park and live on the east side and use Park Avenue
when coming to work. It is much quicker than going down to the
light at 11th and Warren. The traffic on 11th between Warren and
downtown 80 – 90 percent of the time is very light.”
The out basket: Lori may have noticed that it has been changed
back. It wasn’t changed intentionally. City signal technician Greg
Cryder said one of the traffic detectors malfunctioned so the
signal believed there was a constant stream of traffic being
served. It was fixed Wednesday afternoon.
There seem to be a lot of traffic lights not working.
The one on Wheaton Way near 7-Eleven is faster, though it sometimes takes a few minutes and people have to run to catch the bus.
Also when the light turns green pedestrians have the right of way, and cars are turning and don’t stop. I know of at least two people who have been hit crossing the street.
So please watch for people crossing the street.
