There is no cross walk from KMH to the covered bus stop going
northwest, hence, the emotionally compromised KMH patients are
crossing the street, in an unsafe manner. These patients need
to be protected by a cross walk. The traffic on Almira has
increased over the past five years….and so have the number of
patients using Kitsap Transit.
From the driver’s standpoint, it is a hazard to us as we have to
wait, which I don’t mind doing, for them to finally wander across
the street in a scattered and unsafe manner. The
patients are not always conscious of their lack of safety
precautions in crossing the street,.
Schools, churches, hospitals etc have cross walks. Why not
KMH?

Jeff Shea of the engineering staff at Kitsap County Public Works
checked the location and concluded that it is major stop for Kitsap
Transit that warrants a crosswalk. One will be installed, along
with signs denoting a crossing for handicapped people, he said.
