Yep, still on that box of Bremerton Sun film negatives labeled 3/78-7/78…
Some have asked why I don’t scan different years every week…and my answer to that is because then my desk (and then by default my computer desktop) would be littered with random different negatives and nothing would stay organized.
Plus there is the extreme joy and accomplishment that I feel when I get a whole box of negatives scanned, the box sealed back up, placed back on the shelf and the knowledge that hopefully I never have to look in that box again.
So I’m sorry if 1978 is “boring” but I have to power through the box! 😉
A few moments that are captured in this batch of scans:
- I love photos of the Roxy in it’s glory days. I think that photographs of theatre marquees are just perfect time capsules of the year that they were shot. I also googled Burt Reynold’s The End film and “It’ll Blow Your Mind” was the film’s tag line and not just a fun quip from the marquee arranger, and while reading the synopsis of the film, I have to think that is a slightly inappropriate tagline even if it was a comedy. But more importantly I do hope that whomever revitalizes the Roxy puts the “Have A Fun Day” back up because that statement makes me smile every time i see it on old photos of the place!
- The USS Coral Sea visits PSNS.
- A lot if images from what looks like a horrific accident on McWilliams where a delivery truck of some sort ended up rolling down an embankment and crushing a car.
- Aerial photos
- Odin Industries which if I am correct is operated as Odin Inn at North Kitsap High School still to this day.
- A South Kitsap graduate gets her diploma in the hospital.
- Also a few random 1979 negatives are still turning up in this box so the two car Cruise photos at the end are actually 1979.
Remember, the only information I have on these images is what is written on the negatives sleeve.
