FRAMES: Photo(s) Of The Day: Cruising To 100

At 100 years old, Bob Bartos still drives his forest green 1936 Ford four-door convertible sedan. Granted, he doesn’t drive it far.

“Yeah, I drive it,” he said. “I start the motor, back it out of the garage, turn on the radio, listen to it for 30 minutes and think about all of the good memories. I’ve put 135 miles on it that way.”

The best part about my job, well next to the fact that I get paid to take photos of course, is that I get to meet and photograph the most interesting people. Bob Bartos was no exception. With a sweet smile and great stories, being able to capture his 100th. birthday party among the classic cars was a grand time.

Here are two of my favorite shots from the event:

Charline Austin, of Poulsbo, is the first friend to give Bob Bartos a hug for his birthday after he exited his 1936 Ford 4-door convertible sedan at the Cool Car Cruz in the parking lot of Shari's Restaurant on Wheaton Way in Bremerton on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. (MEEGAN M. REID / KITSAP SUN)
