The New York Times has a
really interesting feature called “Picturing the Recession.”
They’re asking people from around the world to send in their photos that illustrate the recession. I found one shot of a woman’s W-2, comparing last year and this year (It’s in the “Sacrifice” category.) timely and poignant.
As an aside, you probably recognize the photo on the left. It’s one of the most famous, maybe the most famous, photo of the Great Depression. And it’s in the public domain. For a few hours of fun, head over to The Commons at flickr.com. They’ve compiled a huge collection of public domain images, which you can search.
