Do you have a cause that’s near and dear to your heart? Surely its on the list of 200 nonprofits participating in the Kitsap Great Give Tuesday. The 24-hour online charity marathon will raise more than $500,000 for charitable organizations in Kitsap County, as well as Belfair and Gig Harbor, if the community steps up as organizers hope.
Here are the details:
On Tuesday, Kitsap County residents will have 24 hours to give
online to local causes of their choice through the Kitsap Great
Give.
Kitsap Community Foundation and United Way of Kitsap County hope to
raise $500,000 in donations to be shared among 200 nonprofits in
Kitsap County, Belfair and Gig Harbor.
The kitsapgreatgive.org website, hosted by KCF, has searchable
profiles of participating nonprofits. Donors can make tax
deductible gifts of at least $10 to one or more of the
organizations.
In addition, sponsors have pledged up to $100,000 in “incentive”
money to amplify individual donations. If the entire goal of
$500,000 is reached, nonprofits that receive donations will get a
proportional percentage of the $100,000 incentive fund. For
example, if one nonprofit gets 3 percent of the $500,000 total,
$15,000, they will also receive 3 percent of the $100,000 incentive
money, or $3,000.
Tuesday also marks Give Local America, a national effort to have as
many community foundations, like KCF, as possible host giving days
such as the Kitsap Great Give.
Kitsap’s event begins at midnight on Tuesday. Nonprofits and donors
can track fundraising totals throughout the day.
