Peabody: Life, Friends Baseball is the name of the blog. It is intended to follow the Mariners and the Western division American league race.
The focus will be to talk plain about some of the analytical aspects of baseball as known as Sabremetrics, without losing the point of loving baseball as the most perfect game.
My name is Terry Benish; the blog title is an homage to Mr. Peabody of Rocky and Bullwinkle show as created by Jay Ward. Peabody was a sage and wise dog who knew everything and had a pet boy named Sherman. The sensibility of Peabody is that he loved pointing out that things were not always as they seem.
Many of you have watched Ken Burns series on baseball which initially ran on PBS and was updated and reran last fall on MLB the network. At the end of watching that marathon what comes out that is that it’s a marvelous game played by fantastic players.
The hope is to bring some light on to why with a team that has been marginal, why it is still worth embracing. From time to time there will be additional collaborators who will show some their views as well.
