Where do all the new guys playFebruary 1st, 2013 by terrybenish
Mike Morse, Kendrys Morales, Jason Bay, Raul Ibanez, Kelly Shoppach and Robert Andino. Shoppach and Andino are spares. Shoppach is a good catcher that has thrown well and shown some power, he will spell the number one catcher which is supposed to be Jesus Montero. Andino is a very good utility player that can easily second, short or third and he has some juice in his bat. Morales is easily the dh, but could also play first, but let us say the dh primarily. Morse can be in left field or right field, but if he is left and Morales is the mainstay as dh, then Raul and Bay are extraneous. If Bay hits, then you slide Morse to right field. Which suggests that Franklin Gutierrez is in center field. But Michael Saunders is the center fielder from last summer and had a breakout season. Wells is doing ghostly things in these scenarios, that is you can’t see him.
The pitching for the Mariners maybe three out five will see lots of balls in the gaps and deep, so the guys in the outfield need to play with their pf flyers on. If they are old or large the balls are going to bang around out there for a bit.
If Smoak does not grab a job, then Morales does and the dh job could go to Morse and other dominoes topple over. Should be fun.
