Potpourri revisited

January 5th, 2013 by terrybenish

Shannon Drayer offers up the last week in her piece from yesterday that is very long on perspective. Good read.

Jason Churchill weaving words around some would be trades that now seem more and more unlikely with the passage of a few days. He took some shots for this.

Then some more National guys weighing in on Tweets about Justin Upton and the Mariners. Buster Olney etc.

Go become a twitter follower, there are all kinds of stuff, “linking” the Ms to this or that.

I’m not sure that there really is anything going on, besides the Ms continue to try hard as in the Josh Hamilton, horseshoes and hand grenades event. That said as I have mentioned before, the Mariners prospects, especially the guys barely to the majors or not even there, are at the lowest point of their valuation right now. Visions of Shin Soo Chew, Adam Jones, Astrubal Cabrera, Jason Varitek, Tino Martinez dance in your mind. Sort of the long term tragedy of this team.

But this has been such an ongoing PR disaster of two off-seasons for the Mariners from Prince Fielder, Josh Hamilton and the Sonics arena that the over-riding sense of this is that all of these links to this and that player are head fakes to keep people interested until spring training starts. Might be the best thing to do, even if duplicitous.
