Another exciting day at the winter meetings for MarinersDecember 4th, 2012 by terrybenish
There is so much gibberish about the Mariners being churned out the past two days. Billy Butler, Alex Gordon, Jason Bourne…oops Michael Bourn a centerfielder that kind of has an Ichiro kind of slash line, no juice some doubles, he steals, did I say no juice. Then Jason Bay who last had a good year four or five years ago, then got hurt and for the last while been bad. Raul Ibanez who is 52 years old. Others have been talked to…Nick Swisher, Bay and Ibanez, Saunders who had a breakout year is going to build on that in Tacoma. While the Mariners rotate Swisher, Bay, Raul around Bourn and Swisher plays a little first when Smoakie doesn’t hit. I like Swisher…Bourn’s second half was disastrous, progressive decline from June on. Might be something wrong.
Sort of the evolving outfield approaching 9:00 is Saunders in right field, Bourn in center field and Gutierrez in left field at least until he breaks down again.
It all depends on who you believe right now. On the scene locally are Geoff Baker and Greg Johns and about every twenty minutes all day long some National correspondent tweets that the Mariners are in on this or that. Could all be bologna.
Haven’t we figured out that when your entire outfield hits 30 home runs that you score 500-600 runs and come in last?
Did you hear the latest Mariner news? Edgar bought Denny’s and renamed Edgar’s. He’s putting one in the bullpen at Safeco. Instead of the $8 grand slam plate, you get a get a a grand salami on rye for $50 and $10 beer. One slice of salami and a Dixie cup of cold slaw.
Unfortunately you can’t see the TV from there.
