The path for Wil Myers points to the East

November 29th, 2012 by terrybenish

David Cameron of fangraphs/USSMariner/WSJ/710ESPN/etc. has a piece this morning saying the Royals are in dialogs with the Red Sox and Rays to trade right field prospect Wil Myers for a frontline starting pitcher: Jon Lester and James Shields are the names he tosses about.

He takes great umbrage with the Royals telling them that the return of those pitchers is not enough and that they can not afford to lose the projected production of Myers.

Just a week ago he had also written that the Royals should take a bag of elbows and doorknobs, i.e. prospects from the Mariners for Myers instead of Billy Butler. There was no disparagement of the Royals at that suggestion.

Nick Franklin and James Paxton are the names on our side and they don’t rise to the value of Lester or Shields…yet. They might or might not in a year.

Peace out.
